perhaps the legacy of humanity shows the existance of a good God, for despite ourselves, we have not destroyed ourselves, and there is hope and goodness that stand resilient to the overwhelming evil.
If it wasn't for the presence of God, the "legacy" you speak of would have snuffed out mankind long ago, and you wouldn't be here to write in the goodness of your home, surrounded by family who loves you.
Perhaps, but I see it from a different angle. I see that in spite of the promise of a good god mankind continues to be as self-destructive as ever - regardless of faith or creed.
As for the legacy snuffing us out, humanity has only had the real potential to do that in recent generations and has come perilously close to doing so.
The great Bastions of faith have proven to be without substance or difference and, more so than any other community, shine a bright light on the legacy of humanity of which I speak.
I indeed have a good home, but that has not always been the case. Even more telling are the countless 'bad' homes where children and spouses hurt each other and suffer - many crying out to a silent god as they are abused or in their loneliness.
The silence of god in the midst of the evils of this world is indeed a telling indictment upon either his goodness or his very existence.
hm, this sounds intentionally perspective driven to me. i have come from such a home as you talk about yet i still see enough goodness in my life to warrant the presence of the divine.

true, but do you doubt that any generation would have taken the opportunity to wipe out the race or at least come as close as we have - if they were able to? every generation has seen genocide and massacre. we haven't gotten worst, we're terribly consistent. if the existence of God is dependant on mankind's actions and his actions militate against his existence, than that leaves humanity alone to take all the blame we heap on God - mankind as we know it somehow being expected to fulfill the expectations we now have for the presence of a good God. I have seen very little that says man can exist without a moral standard outside of itself. it is depraved and how can its behaviour be completely random? evolution gone terribly backwards?
it all comes down to blame, really. is it a good, all-powerful God's fault that mankind behaves the way it does? would we really want him to use that power to change us? hehe, sadly, he would have to alter us so much there wouldn't be much left of us, we're more selfish and depraved than we know. who's fault is it anyway?
